Join the call as usual
Redrule runs in the menu bar and offers to record when a Zoom or Google Meet call starts. Other calls can be recorded from the menu bar.

Live transcription
NVIDIA Parakeet transcribes the call on your Mac as it happens. Your microphone is labelled Me, and other participants are distinguished by voice.

A summary, decisions and action items, written on your Mac or by your ChatGPT or Grok account. You can then ask questions about the meeting, check off action items and tag meetings.

Questions
Does a bot join my meetings?
No. Redrule records the call's audio on your Mac. Other participants see no additional attendee.
Do I need a subscription or an API key?
No. Redrule is free. Notes can be written on your Mac without any account, or with your existing ChatGPT or Grok plan. Transcription always runs on your Mac.
Should I use the local model or ChatGPT or Grok?
The local model keeps everything on your Mac and works offline. Qwen3.5 4B writes notes for a typical meeting in a minute or two with modest memory and battery use. The 9B model handles long or technical meetings better, takes about twice as long and needs 16 GB of memory. ChatGPT and Grok are faster, but the transcript is sent to your account. You can change this at any time in Settings.
Can I ask questions about a meeting?
Yes. After a meeting ends, you can ask questions about it and follow up. Answers are based on its notes and transcript and come from the local model or your ChatGPT or Grok account, as set in Settings.
How accurate is the transcript?
Accuracy is high on clear audio; Parakeet ranks among the most accurate open speech recognition models on public benchmarks. As with any transcription, names, jargon, overlapping speech and poor connections can cause errors. Speakers can be renamed and notes edited afterwards.
Does it work offline?
With the local model, recording, transcription and notes all work offline. With ChatGPT or Grok, recording and transcription work offline, and notes can be written once you are back online by choosing Write notes.
What do I need?
A Mac with Apple Silicon running macOS 15 or later. On first launch, Redrule requests microphone and system audio access and downloads its speech model. The local notes model is a one-time download of 2.7 GB, or 5.7 GB for the larger version.
How do updates work?
Redrule checks for updates in the background and installs them automatically, without interrupting a recording. You can also choose Check for Updates… from the menu.
